FAQ
What do I do when I open the package?
You only need to pull off the perforation on the box to get started. There’s no need to remove the grow block from the packaging. Leaving the block inside helps maintain the right environment for the mushrooms to grow.
What do I do with the block after it’s done?
Once your mushrooms have finished growing, remove the plastic and use the block as compost in your garden or soil. It won’t grow more mushrooms—it’s all done!
I didn’t get a second flush. Why?
Many times, the mushrooms give their all in the first flush, and there may not be enough nutrients left for a second one. While multiple flushes are possible, it’s best to look at the total yield. Our 3lb blocks produce about ¾ lb to 1 lb of mushrooms in total.
Why does my block look strange? Could it be mold?
Mycelium, the mushroom’s growing body, is typically wispy white and spreads across the block. Our blocks are made from oak and soy, giving them a natural dark brown base color. If you notice colors like green, black, or unusual brown spots, this could be a sign of contamination.
Can I get multiple flushes from one block?
Yes, sometimes! However, the total yield from the block will still be around 1 lb. A second flush may be smaller or not happen at all, depending on the block’s condition.
